The barrel is a prop in the shape of a rusty corrugated steel drum found on a large number of maps. Players can pick up and subsequently throw the barrel with either the Fire or Interact keys. While held, it lacks collision with players or other props. Throwing the barrel with the interact key will also throw the leftmost weapon the player has equipped, similar to pressing the Interact key without holding a barrel.This will not happen if the Fire key is pressed.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
When thrown, the barrel hits opponents it comes into contact with for knockback and 25 damage, as well as disarming them and bouncing off.&lt;br /&gt;
Despite crumpling when shot, the barrel does not stop a majority of hitscan weapons and cannot be relied on for cover.&lt;br /&gt;

Barrels make a surprisingly effective weapon that can easily deter opponents that are trying to get in close for a shotgun shot or melee hit. If one positions well, they can push the opponent into a corner and keep them there while repeatedly pelting them with barrels. &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Do be aware that the opponent can pick up your barrels after being struck by them and counterattack. As such, it may be better to grab their weapon or to take space rather than committing to the kill with exclusively barrels. &lt;br /&gt;
One does need to take into account that this is less funny.&lt;br /&gt;

Gland Grenades on average have to be much closer to the opponent to consistently kill compared to the [[Hand Grenade]]. Because of this, one should try to toss them more accurately if getting the frag is the goal. One can also use the random element suppressively, keeping opponents out of its line of sight lest they risk dying.&lt;br /&gt;

Conversely, it might be appropriate when playing against the Gland Grenade to challenge it at medium range if surviving it means a likely kill on the opponent. Risk management is key on both sides.&lt;br /&gt;
